BIO
Tai Power Seeff grew up in Los Angeles, CA, and at age 17 moved to New York City where she studied Photography, Anthropology, and Cinematography at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Photojournalist Angel Franco of the New York Times was one of her first mentors at NYU, and after graduating from university she became the first assistant to fashion photographer Todd Marshard. She has since had the privilege of working with such photo luminaries as Steve McCurry and Dana Gluckstein.
With family hailing primarily from Mexico, Italy, and South Africa, she has traveled the world from an early age, and has lived in Rome, Italy; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Cape Town, South Africa; and Chiang Mai, Thailand. This international experience, coupled with the creative influence of her father, photographer/filmmaker Norman Seeff, has inspired her own career as a travel and portrait photographer.
Tai's mother, former actress Taryn Power Grendeer, moved from Los Angeles to a farm in the Amish region of Southwest Wisconsin when Tai was a teenager. As a lifelong environmentalist, Tai was able to cultivate her interests in sustainable agriculture, natural building, and regenerative design there on the farm, and subsequently lived and studied at the Pun Pun Center for Self-Reliance in Northern Thailand.
In late 2009 Tai was invited to photograph the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark and was featured as a 'Green' Photographer by American Photo Magazine.
Her most inspiring photo projects address cultural and environmental preservation, and she endeavors to bring this awareness to all of her professional assignments. Tai is currently based out of the San Francisco Bay Area and is represented by Getty Images. For stock requests and additional imagery, please visit: http://www.gettyimages.com
